Planned obsolescence?

I've been an avid Chacos fan for many years. I've had several pairs in two decades, but it seems like this brand has strayed from their iconic formula; a high-performance sandal known for its invincibility. Design flaws, poor quality materials, and silly color schemes have crept into their product line. Decisions were made that I felt diluted the brand and tried to offer something for everyone rather than focusing on what made Chacos special. Maybe it's just not profitable to produce something that never wears out. I don't like them, but Chaco didn't give us another good choice in the strapless sandals category. Gone are both Hipthong and Tegu, the Chilos have a critical error (see Azon test photos) and the $50 flip has plenty of competition. Here's what you need to know about these sandals. Firstly, if this is your first pair of chacos they will be great. In my case and more than a few pairs for a full size. The insole of these sandals is lighter than regular Z-sandals, and the adjustment strap is lighter than the rest of the webbing, which is a dubious design decision. There is also no Vibram outsole. Instead of the full webbing that has made the Chacos known for their durability, a leather eyelet strap has been added that disappears into the sole. As with Chillo, this is likely a future failure point. As for the fit, the bad reviews about it seem overdone in my opinion. Until you stop walking, keep them on your feet. And they are comfortable. They would probably make great indoor shoes, but I definitely wouldn't put them in the same class as the Chacos Classic sandals. I am sure they will last as long as other brands. However, I expect more from Chacos.
