Reliable USB 3.0 hub

I need a USB 3.0 hub for my Surface Pro. The Surface is a very good portable device, but it only has one USB port. Things can get very complicated when you need to access more than one USB device. Atolla is well packaged in a sturdy box. When you open it you will see a hub. Underneath is a 3 amp power supply. The permanently connected USB cable is located on the underside of the hub next to the power cable socket. The USB cable is 23 inches long without the connector. I'm setting up my Surface Pro with a hub connected to multiple external hard drives. From left to right: Old Samsung 1 TB SATA SSD in USB 3.0 enclosure, HUB, My Passport USB 3.0 500 GB HDD, Memorex 1 TB USB 3.0 HDD and 250 GB SATA USB 3.0 HDD. universal USB 2.0 housing. I tested different discs by copying a large movie file from the disc to the Surfave Pro SSD. Unsurprisingly, the Samsung SSD delivered read and write speeds of around 290 MB/s. WD My Passport USB 3.0 was slower at 69 MB/s read and 68 MB/s write. Memorex USB 3.0 was quite fast: 80 MB/s reading and about the same in writing. Surprisingly, the USB 2.0 250 GB hard drive was initially not recognized when connected to port 3 or 4 (counting from "below"). It was detected when plugged into either of the two bottom ports and delivered read and write speeds of 30MB/s. The rest of the drives worked on each of the ports. There is a 2.4A USB charging port on the top of the hub. I've connected it to a cell phone wireless charger and I can say it works well. The charging port is always on when the AC adapter is connected. The push button switches are turned on by pressing them immediately, but need to be pressed for 2 seconds to turn off. Each enabled port displays a light blue LED backlight with some see-through to neighboring ports. Not the main problem. I like this center very much. This is a more compact version of the 7 port model I used with my tower computer and it works too. Highly recommended!
