You insert 1 battery with a thin plastic holder into the remote control/device. and you put 1 plug into a device that only has 2 battery slots. YES, it works with two 1.5V sockets, although the instructions say otherwise. Now I will connect the Spider 2 to another ROKU remote. I have 3 TVs on the wall, 1 50" and 2 32". Good product.
