I have a DAS mechanical keyboard, but it doesn't have a backlight. Sometimes I turn on the table lamp at night to watch, but I also don't want to disturb a family member. I started shopping for a backlit keyboard and almost bought it but decided to give this Lite keyboard a try. My keyboard has two USB ports on the side, so I figured that might work. So far, so good. I paid a little more because I like the 3 lighting modes and I prefer the amber type. I have another USB night reading lamp with the same features. In general, if you have USB ports on your keyboard, you might not need the backlit type. However, I'm not a gamer or anything. I don't know if the backlight is suitable for this.
