Review on πŸ”§ Dorman 425-176 Steering Shaft: Enhanced Performance for Select Models by Josh Koa

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy assembly, easy design change to the original axle

As stated in the product description, the design of the original axle is slightly modified. It looks more durable and is optically subject to less wear and tear than the original component. I replaced this shaft along with the lower steering shaft bearing and the steering rattle and the feeling that the front suspension would fall out of the truck were eliminated. It was the right repair for my car. It was 153K at the time of the service. I also serviced 1 upper ball joint as well as the tensioner/bracket and opener at about the same time. I did a test ride between the components and the most notable improvements were the shaft and bearing. If you've been told that your front suspension components are worn out I wouldn't hesitate to replace them, but I would also recommend going a step further and replacing the countershaft and lower bearing if they haven't already been serviced.
