Review on Portable Meino Trio Go 14" Monitor Display Compatible by Chad Veunnasack

Good concept but bad execution

It's a great concept - who doesn't want detachable monitors that can be pulled out when needed? The problem is poor performance. I have a 17.3 inch laptop and my old second monitor wasn't reliable so I decided to take the plunge and buy two of these to add extra monitors as I work best with more than one. They advertise that the trio is compatible with 17" laptops, so I figured why not. The delivery came early which is good. I downloaded the discs according to the instructions and installed them with no problems. Then put on the magnets and connect both monitors connecting with no problem. Then why two stars? Firstly, I wouldn't recommend buying two of these for a laptop over 15 inches. Even at maximum expansion, one of them will be partially blocked. Just one monitor works well if you connect the magnets closer to one side and not in the middle. Second, the magnets are not that strong. I use a docking stand and my laptop is even slightly elevated, the magnets can't support the weight of both monitors, I have to place them on my speakers for support. And third and most annoying is that both monitors turn off randomly. Sometimes it happens once an hour or so, sometimes it happens every few minutes. This is very annoying! I don't know what the problem is here and I contacted the manufacturer to find out how to fix it. I'm still waiting for an answer. If I don't get an answer I will send it back.

Pros
  • The easy setup and the extra screen are great!
Cons
  • The monitor is too heavy to move.
