Not waterproof but clear coated
Revain product information says they are not waterproof. However, the IP62 rating means they protect against water droplets. It is important to note that the strip has a protective clear plastic coating. Therefore, even after scraping all of the plastic covering off the contact area, soldering becomes difficult and in my experience clips on connectors do not always make good contact. If you're just doing one continuous run then you're fine, but be careful when connecting the two sections together. Full Disclosure: I'm not a professional solderer, but I've had no trouble soldering bare LED strips.
