I love the idea, thought and care behind making these plant based sponges. They are made from biodegradable and compostable materials like wood pulp and coir, which is important to me. I use sponges to wipe countertops, wash dishes and clean the bathroom. They have withstood the wear and tear better than traditional synthetic sponges. They don't retain odors when rinsed out after use like other sponges. They claim they don't need to be microwave or dishwasher safe, as long as they're rinsed and air dried. However, it is not clear to me whether this practice is intended to kill bacteria. Before use, they must first be thoroughly wetted to soften the fibers. This is one of the qualities of the sponge that I didn't like. Even when saturated, some of the coco fibers were still tough. Great for cleaning pots and pans, but not very handy if you're squeezing the sponge. To be clear, that's not much, but I would prefer the fibers to be shorter and/or more flexible. I would still use and buy it again due to lack of smell, quality, durability and even natural brown and white. . However, I would personally wear gloves.
