Ink cartridges leak outside of cartridges

Cartridges leak all over packaging and outside edges rendering them unusable. Not having time to wait for my order, I had to wipe the ink and risked ruining my very expensive printer. So I was able to salvage one cartridge, but now what do I do with the other to get it back? Not sure about savings with more questions.
