One of these was purchased in 1979 and used for many years until lost en route. Used it to craft Gallons of Amazing Kalua. My original was rated for a pound (16 ounces) of coffee as that was the standard package. Thinner and smaller, this new model is really rated at 12 ounces. although alternative instructions are given. Featuring 16 ounces of soil in a smaller container. Production is becoming increasingly concentrated. I like the easier cleaning with the paper filter and fiber disc and the fact that the ground coffee mixes well without disturbing the drain. Coffee quality as always. The problems with the significantly deteriorated quality of the decanter are well covered in many other reviews. Cold extraction, not heating the coffee, is what makes this so incredible for Kalua. Toddy plus simple syrup plus rum/brandy. and some fresh vanilla beans and you have your favorite gifts. I look forward to dealing with this product again
