Review on Winsome Wood 94944 Entertainment Antique by Brian Krump

Excellent value for money

It was an unexpected pleasant surprise. It looks very good, is well built for the price and most importantly it was easy to assemble. Saying something is easy to assemble means something special to me. I'm good in my head but totally clumsy when it comes to my hands; I'm an uncoordinated spasm. This is why I HATE FURNITURE ASSEMBLY; If there's a way to screw things up, I'll find it. I was taught in hard knocks school to take my time assembling furniture, so before I started I carefully studied the instructions and checked them for each of the five steps. The device I received was made in Thailand. Very carefully packaged, therefore no defects. I started with an inventory and verified that every detail is present and undamaged. Then I inspected each piece of wood to make sure all the holes in the guide were there. The instructions I received were detailed which was helpful. I built it on a large table, because without shelves and doors it is not heavy, and I did almost everything exactly according to the instructions. The only thing I did differently was place the pins that will support the shelves (rather than the shelves themselves) before the doors were installed. It is very important to complete step 1 and prepare the doors. Also at this step one of the doors didn't fit perfectly and I had to play around with it a bit. my biggest problem was to get your back right. The block is usually not entirely rectangular, only the top, bottom and sides are sewn together; it distorts something. You can see this easily (if you pay attention) because EACH HOLE IS PRE-DRILLED. If the back is properly oriented (with the warning label facing up), the holes will line up (to the millimeter). It took quite a bit of frame tweaking to get everything lined up, but eventually they agreed. I screwed (loosely) two of the four corners first, realigned, and loosely screwed the other two corners. Then I inserted the screws from the corners inwards, everything is loose. When they were all there, I walked around in circles, mostly, but not quite, holding on. Final circular cycle to fully tighten. Be sure to install the magnets when laying the device down so you can see what you're doing. Holes are also pre-drilled for this. Don't overdo it. Place the block and hang the doors. Then, move the magnets so they hold securely and tighten the screws. I'm sure a professional could do the whole process from unboxing to completion in less than an hour. It took me two and a half hours; I am very satisfied and can recommend this device without reservation. Four stars because, as other reviewers have noted, it tastes more like cherry than walnut, but I can live with that. Place the block and hang the doors.
