This unit works like a 20 year old unit. You cannot remove the heating plates to clean them and there is no other way to fully clean the device. it has no temperature control. It's not big enough for two sandwiches to fit completely without some of them breaking and not cooking outside the heating zone. The lid spreads the bread apart when closed because it's attached to a fixed hinge point and can be lifted higher for thicker sandwiches. Do yourself a favor and spend a little extra for a long-lasting, full-size panani grill!
