I think a 1TB drive is a very fast 250GB drive. The first 250 GB runs at 300-350 Mbit/s and then drops to around 18 Mbit/s. So when you try to fill the drive, at first it says it will take 45 minutes, but it ends up taking over 10 hours. They're probably using a very fast 250GB chip and adding some older/much slower chips to bring it to TB. I bought two of them, they were the same, the speed dropped to 18MB/s. So they fool the benchmarks but I think it's dishonest so I returned them both.
