Review on Toklat Medallion Close Contact Pad by Fritz Wiest

Toklat makes the best saddle pads! Yes, they cost a little more, but they serve and serve well with frequent use and washing. The medallion is made entirely of fleece, wears well and washes like a dream. It gets even softer after a few washes and I use this style four to five days a week for riding and school. The Super Quilt pillow has a quilted cotton backing and is slightly more expensive. I love it, but I live in the Piedmont area of North Carolina where the red clay soil turns my mostly white horse orange as it rolls. Orange dirt then discolours the quilted cotton inside of the lining, even after intensive care. Interestingly, Medallion's all-fleece liner is undyed, so it stays white and clean despite the orange dirt. I now use Super Quilt pillows for the show and Medallion All-Fleece liners are my daily commute. The fleece underlay is comfortable for my horse even in summer. I will not buy any other brand of saddle pad and would highly recommend Toklat's Medallion and Super Quilt.
