I was looking for porch lights with a photocell and decided on these. I'm nowhere near being an installation expert, so I have to say installing these was a nightmare! You basically screw them into the bracket from the rear, so there is no way of measuring the distance you need. You have to get just the right amount of bolt extruding from the brick by trial and error to get a tight seal when screwing in the fixture with the ornamental screw. After finally getting the first bolt tight, I thought I would easily use the same measurement and install the second side. WRONG! the brick on the other side of my porch stuck out farther, so I had to rework my measurement to get this side tight. Installation instructions were vague and of very little help. Took me 3 trips to my hardware store and 4 1/2 hours of labor before I was done. It seems having the decorative screw attached to the bolt and screwing it in the bracket from the outside would save a lot of problems. I really like them and the hue and brightness of the bulbs now that they are installed. Hoping these lamps last a long time, I will look for an easier porch fixture to hang next time.
