First I installed the display drivers according to the instructions in the manual but it didn't work at all. I then uninstalled the drivers and plugged in the device to try it. And it worked great. It looks like the new DisplayLink drivers caused a conflict with my previous drivers. I'm not sure if there is a way to confirm that your laptop already has the appropriate drivers (or not). In any case, the monitor does not blink!
