I had a pair of similar pedestal style rockers that were much less expensive from one of the odd lot type stores. After more than a decade, I broke the last one (spring snapped). I found those chairs were more comfortable and durable than office type chairs, so I began using them at my desk in my home office. I could work comfortable 10-12 hours at a stretch, with no aches or other problems.These new chairs don't compare. Even when sitting fully back in the chair, they are too upright, and put a strain on my lower back.I really wanted to love these as much as I did the previous pair, but I just can't use them more than a few hours without my back aching.The mesh material has some kind of padding in it. It is not the tightly stretched single layer of fabric that my old set had. I haven't used them through the summer, so I'm not sure how well I will like them when it gets warm. I don't think they will be as cool as the single layer fabric.
