Review on πŸ’‘ Leviton 6151 Incandescent Holder Socket: The Ultimate Lighting Solution by Kirk Womack

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good retrofit or repair for Tri-Lights

Used to repair a solid, heavy brass lamp with a Tri-Lights switch that has failed after decades of use. It allows you to use traditional incandescent bulbs instead of expensive three-filament bulbs and gives you an infinite dimming range. It dims very little with absolutely silent operation. The connection and installation instructions printed in the box are clear. and included. Although Leviton is an American brand, this socket is made in China. Good build quality - appears to be as good as the old three lamp outlet it replaced (which was also a Leviton just made in the USA). a set screw in the base to securely lock the socket onto the lamp's threaded rod (interestingly, the original socket had no set screw). Rotate the knob to a higher level, then gently release. It doesn't really matter, especially since many dimmers don't run as low as this one. Another minor downside - a large white pen dangling from a black pole. I reattached it by first wrapping a tiny strip of masking tape around the black rod. Note: I only tested with incandescent bulbs (e.g. old-fashioned incandescent bulbs).

Pros
  • Interchangeable with standard dimmer conversion lamp holder
Cons
  • Can't remember
