Review on NYX Epic Ink Liner - Waterproof Black Liquid Eyeliner, Professional Makeup by Darla Wilmoth

Revainrating 5 out of 5

After some comparisons and tests.

I absolutely live with eyeliner every moment of the day. However, I have very oily eyelids and most eyeliner doesn't hold or stay on my eyelids. So I need a very waterproof and smudge-proof formula to look good for at least most of the day before my oils decide to screw it up. I prefer opaque black eyeliner with a brush. Although the eyeliner is opaque and runny, it's difficult to control around my lids and sometimes dries out, even though I've only used the eyeliner a couple of times. I compared this NYX eyeliner to some of my favorites. or some famous brands: Hyper Easy by Maybelline, Waterproof by MACQUEEN, Illustrative by EM Cosmetic, Heroine Make Smooth Liquid, Eyeko Black Magic and Tattoo Liner by KVD. I compared each of them with 4 tests that I illustrated in my photos. Maybelline's new eyeliner stays on moderately well, and it's the only formula I've ever seen that dries, mattes, and stays that long. Of course, my favorite Asian liners from MACQUEEN and Heroine Make are super waterproof and budget friendly. Eyeko is also a popular Asian brand with moderate longevity. EM Cosmetics doesn't claim to be waterproof, it's just durable, so I'll let that slip. I've never liked the KVD formula for my eyelids, so I'm not surprised it didn't last long. Compared to them, the NYX formula isn't terrible and works great for most people, but it definitely can't last. through my mighty eyelids. BUT I really like how opaque the one-puff formula is and how fluid and evenly smooth it is. Makes it really easy to make graphic liners! It's also great for creating wings quickly and easily (with a gentle hand, of course, since it's so pigmented). I will continue to use it with primer or powder because I love the pigment! If you don't have crazy oily eyelids and like a dark and even application with a brushed eyeliner, I highly recommend this eyeliner! And even if you have eyelids like mine, I'm sure you can make it work with some preparation!

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Exorbitant price
