Review on Intel Core I5 4690S 1150 BX80646I54690S by Bogdan Nikolov ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I did not regret the purchase, everything is fine.

According to the comments made about the device, there appear to be other processor alternatives available on the market, including "hot" and "cold" options. I do not rule out the possibility that it actually is (various steppings, varying degrees of clumsiness of the internal thermal interface), but I cannot confirm it either. In order: Because my job requires me to run virtual machines, I chose to put together a high-speed mini-ITX system unit for it, but I debated for a long time which of the processors to get. In the end, I went with the Core i5-4590 because there is a phantom possibility of using TSX-NI in the future (read the technology overview at. Livejournal.Com/84514.Html, at the very end). I can confirm that the processor I am using gets quite hot, and it is impossible to determine whether or not it is compatible with the mini-ITX configuration as all. In the beginning, I ran AlSil-3 with a low-cost, low-profile Ice Hammer IH-3080PWMcomoler that cost around $300 and had simply aluminum fins and a 90mm Carlson fan. When I turned on the OCCT:CPU burn test, I was astounded to see that the test had to be terminated just a few minutes later because the temperature of one of the cores had reached 86-87 degrees. The temperature was roughly 40 degrees when it was at a standstill. Of course, I didn't like it, so the cooler was replaced with a more expensive, also low-profile, Cooler Master GeminII M4 ( 1,300, copper + aluminum, heat pipes + Carlson 120mm). Additionally, the voltage of the Vcore processorcomres was reduced in the BIOS from the default ones 1.096V to 1.057V (lower on my computer was impossible, because it affected the stability of work and got out BSOD), and all of this led to the It is correct that the temperature of the processor's casing, as measured by the AIDA64 stability test, is 63 degrees. If I had known all of the foregoing information, it's possible that I would have restricted my search to something "cooler" or a T series model with lower consumption. Even though the processor will not really be put to use in a mode that is analogous to the burn-test, the fact that this is a possibility should at least be considered.

Pros
  • fast
Cons
  • extremely costly, hot
