I bought this to put on my bedside table and under my CPAP machine. You have to pour water into a heated chamber and sometimes the water overflows. This works well to prevent the water from touching the bedside table. I bought a 2.0mm thick screen protector. It's a lot thicker than I expected and was difficult to cut with a guillotine paper cutter (for a super straight edge) but no complaints as I only had to deal with it once. I'm sure 1.0mm or 1.5mm would work fine for my purpose. I will definitely buy it again if needed for other projects.
