Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great value for money

I have used many cameras on 6 of my family's cars for over ten years and have discarded some of them. I have quite a bit of experience with them so take my rating for what you think it's worth. It's really worth having this camera. It looks good. Very easy to set up. There aren't as many options as BlackVue or ThinkWare, but the price is about 1/8th of those cameras. And as long as you have video to show the police that you were right, those other characteristics don't matter. The problem with cameras is that they are consumables. They only last a few years. The only exception are the old Garmins. My nephew has two that are in the car I gave him and they are still working after about 8 years. Since they only last a few years, wiring is important. You want to be able to switch cameras without changing the wiring. This uses a micro USB cable, which is quite common on the rear camera, but not as common as the main front camera. Another thing to keep in mind in the long run. Now about this camera. The password is a bit complicated. You need to register the camera in the phone app and have 60 seconds to register the password. My phone was too slow to receive an email in 60 seconds. I requested a password from my phone and received an email 10 seconds later while using my desktop. The problem is solved. The wiring is pretty simple. Micro USB cable to a USB power adapter that plugs into a cigarette lighter socket. I did something better by hooking up to the fuse box so it's not visible. Very easy with one tap to "add a chain". Available from Revain, just make sure you know what size fuse your car uses. Setup is easy via the phone app. Even your stupid brother-in-law can do it. The camera has G-sensor event recording (which can be configured) that locks the segment so it doesn't get overwritten. The recording options aren't as good as ThinkWare or BlackVue, but a few hundred less per camera is fine with me. It's enough. Overall it is a 5 star device. Dirty cheap. Enough receptivity to get the job done. A few hundred dollars less than premium cameras. I don't notice any difference in image quality. If you want a record to show that you are not at fault, this will help. If you want more shooting flexibility, buy a BlackVue and pay a few hundred bucks more. The most important thing is to document the event.
