Review on ๐Ÿš€ Borla 11822 Rear-Section Exhaust System: Enhanced Performance for Corvette C6 ZO6/ZR1 by Gary Hall

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Sounds good once switched on

I ordered this system before doing some research and realizing that you can get very good performance from a stock exhaust. Looking back at 20/20 I don't get it. However, it is a very nice sounding exhaust and it definitely feels like the car is faster. We added support mods at the same time, so who knows what just added through the exhaust. It was NOT easy to install. I would STRONGLY recommend learning how to install on the z06 before doing it yourself. I have a decent amount of experience with cars and was a technician many years ago. Usually you just lower the stock exhaust by loosening a couple of retainers and then pulling it out. It took several hours and part of it was installing the exhaust pipe and part of the work on the car was just a beast. You'll have to remove a decent chunk of the rear suspension to remove this. You need to remove the 2 stabilizer bar bolts, lower the 2 struts and bypass the EVAP sensor. I would recommend reading Corvetteforums or YouTube before tackling this yourself like I did. Some of the installation problems were due to the car being very stiff, others were the exhaust itself. The exhaust pipes that passed through the rear suspension and connected to the headers didn't have as much attachment as the end that had American's headers Racing, which could either be the manufacturer or the end attached to their own mufflers. Outside the car, the pipes fit easily into the mufflers, but you can't get a right angle under the car, which is a problem. That didn't help, the driver's side muffler inlet was dented, I assume this was caused by shipping and wasn't a Borla fault. The instructions call for mounting the silencers on hangers and then inserting the pipes. We couldn't do it that way and had to secure it with a jack a little lower than the hangers and then twist the tubes together. Overall I'm very happy with the sound and feel, but I won't try again. I originally said I would keep my spares in case I wanted to go back to them. But after this headache it's definitely not worth it to me haha.
