Strong smell good for baby care

I bought this for my 18 month old who has quite sensitive/dry skin. I know that mineral sunscreens should be best for the environment as well as sensitive skin and children in general, but I have tried a highly rated zinc oxide sunscreen before and it was so thick and sticky that it was difficult to put it on to apply and become good protection for my wavy baby, also it felt like I was rubbing her sensitive skin very hard to spread it which made no sense to me. Oh, and like all mineral sunscreens, it left a ghostly white sheen on her skin. So I decided to try a highly rated chemical sunscreen for kids, hoping it would be easier to apply and she would tolerate it. Overall it's very light and easier to apply and her sensitive skin seems to tolerate it (I don't see any irritation) BUT I wouldn't buy it again due to the very strong smell! Wow, enough to bring me back to every summer I spent by the pool growing up. It doesn't say any fragrance on the bottle but the super sunscreen smell is quite overpowering, almost like a sunscreen perfume (now I see other reviews mention this and wish I had seen it sooner). Why, why does a product intended for children need such a strong smell? Ironically, I also bought Coppertone Ultra Guard SPF 70 (designed for adults) for myself at the same time and it has NO odor at all. So yes, the sunscreen seems to be working well, but I don't think I would buy it again.
