I have both the Micca MB42x and this one and would like to share some of the differences I noticed. The main difference is that they can output a ridiculous amount of bass for their size. With Miccas I gradually lose clarity and detail even with a 5db bass boost, with them I can turn on a 10db bass boost and have no loss of clarity at medium volume in the near field setting powered by the Fosi TDA7498E. With a 10db bass boost I get subwoofer punch levels in EDM bass heavy and trap music up to 40Hz which is crazy! close to its limits. Using Equalizer APO to adjust the treble while my subwoofer is connected to the subwoofer on my motherboard allows me to completely eliminate port chugging with an 80Hz crossover. sound and have better speech intelligibility. In comparison, Daytons have a softer, quieter and warmer sound. The miccas drop quickly below 100Hz, but these go much slower. Miccas have a big improvement when you cross them at 100Hz compared to Daytons, which can be crossed at 60Hz with no loss of clarity. The Miccas have a more focused sound and sound tiny in larger rooms, the Daytons seem to project a slightly wider, less focused sound, and the extra bass really helps fill the room better without sounding weak. Although the Miccas have more power, the Daytons get louder without distortion. When they intersect, they are roughly the same volume. Overall I would prefer them to Miccas if you like warm sounding speakers and bass. Even if you have a subwoofer, they're a better match for a subwoofer than the Miccas and work well for heavy metal, rock, and EDM. If you like acoustic or vocal music, you might prefer miccas. If you're wondering which amp to take, I'm using the Fosi TDA7498E and it's a good choice for future testing. However, you can save a few bucks and get something a little cheaper since this amp has more power than these speakers can handle. If you want cheaper, just choose one of the many TPA3116 based amps available on Amazon. If you're wondering what sub to get with that, snag the Dayton Sub-1000 Parts Express for just $120. This is what I use and it suits them perfectly, extending the bass down to 30Hz. Combined with a subwoofer they cost about the same as a Micca RB42 setup but with deeper, louder bass. FYI if they ever cost more than the Micca MB42x on Amazon check out the parts express, the parts price is almost always lower. Express, also with delivery. ***UPDATE September 24, 2020*** I've been listening to these speakers 8 hours a day for about 10 months and I still love them so much. After my initial review I added speaker stands and a great sounding DAC-X6 v2. These additions have taken these speakers to the next level. I wholeheartedly recommend this setup to anyone looking for a cheap audiophile desktop setup, love it!
