I had to shift the gear knob as the person I bought the car from installed an unsightly huge caliber cartridge (really dumb stuff) found this and it was a lot better quality than me boot is clearly not leather but artificial vinyl, doesn't have a weird smell like some things do. And fits perfectly on my MK4 (2000-01) VW Golf, I didn't want to take out the original chrome part so I popped this boot right in and it fits perfectly, the lever now sits about 4 inches lower than it was on another and I no more shifting problems (hooray). Overall great value for what you get. The stylus has a solid grip and is well made, not great but good enough to last a while with normal use. My Golf is now driving as it should. Very happy with this purchase. If someone doesn't know that there is a small metal ferrule that needs to be squeezed to keep the shift knob from loosening, you'd be surprised at how many people don't know about this small ferrule.
