These boxes are a good size - I have 24 ultra thin markers in one, 24 fine markers in another, 12 spectrum noir markers in another and mine fourth still empty. The number of markers I keep doesn't reach the top of the bottom of the boxes, and the lid rises another ¾ inch above the bottom, allowing me to actually put 4-8 more markers in each box. box (all my markers only fit on the long side). But I would never do that because these boxes don't stay locked. I'm an adult and the only person that uses them and opens them maybe 2-3 times a week. They are stacked on top of each other in a closed bookshelf so they are never hit or touched, but the top one always opens and the latches on the others in the stack are always open. The box is plastic, too thin for the latch to have a good grip - the box flexes when you push the lid against it to close it. All 4 of my boxes seem to latch from time to time, but they all open after a few seconds or minutes. So they fit my needs (a bit transparent, good size for 1 set of markers, folds up nicely indoors) but you'll need to wrap a large rubber band or two around this box if you want to transport it or fill it to the brim parts of the lid without splashing. The boxes have rounded corners and are 8½ long x 5¼ deep x 2½ high. I would only fill it to a depth of 1¾ to make sure the contents are only at the bottom of the box. My markers fit the length and there is over 2 inches of space at the end of the marker stack. Putting pencils in this box leaves at least 1 inch at the end, so you can insert an eraser and a small pencil sharpener. Inside. I chose these boxes because of their size and will replace them if I find others that stay on the latches. They were cheap and saved them from 2 stars. And they are better than the boxes my markers came in. .
