Review on πŸ“± Google Nexus 10 Wi-Fi 32GB: High-Performance Tablet with Connectivity Options by Cesar Danger

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It's been 6 years since launch, mine still works.

May 2014 (Original) In use since Nov 2013. Works well with Jellybean, currently works well with Kitkat. The biggest plus is the front stereo speakers. Treated this tablet like a fat boombox. May 2016 (old update). Almost 2.5 years in use. N10 still works, got the latest OS update to 5.1.1. Lollipop in 2015, since then it has only received security patch updates. It's still not rooted, which I should eventually do. I encountered performance issues when using it. Random shutdown, assuming 2GB of dual-core RAM isn't enough. When playing YouTube videos, the tablet turns off if the video is displayed in 1080p for a short time. Scale them to VGA, which works well in full screen. Battery life is still relatively good after all those 6-7 hours of normal use. Playing graphically intensive video games on it drains the battery even more. Reading reviews of Revain, reviews of extremely reduced battery life. My unit is probably lucky. My battery life has probably dwindled with age, but not too badly. I don't know if it's the environment or the charging frequency. I tend to use it at medium room temperature, whatever that means. Not too hot, not too cold. Usually use it until the battery runs out before auto power off, then charge it. Glue, which I think is the reason for this. I see it in the middle of the screen if I look further, especially to the side. For me this is not an obstacle, I do not see nearby. Lowered my rating to 4/5 stars, allowing for occasional outages. Otherwise if this works for me it still works fine. December 2018 (recent update) N10 is 6 years old since launch. I still have it and it works well within the confines of its era. I did a factory reset and kept OS 5.1.1 Lollipop. Never rooted. The only major issues I still have with the N10 is that YouTube mostly runs at 1080p, it can't stream video at 1080p, which is tablet resolution. A few minutes and off. This is due to the chipsets of its time. I had this problem from the start, I just lowered the resolution to 480p. Also, you cannot run a graphically intensive game like a PSP game on PPSSPP. My Samsung J3 2018 budget phone with 2GB quad core processor works better. It's apples to pears given 6 years. The N10 is still usable, it just doesn't support HD.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...
