It does not stand on its own like in the photo but I was able to make a cardboard insert that runs slightly up the bottom and sides which works well. It's just the right size to store my embroidery projects, with room for an embroidery hoop and project box or cards with thread and various supplies like scissors and patterns. I also have several books on embroidery. The outside has velcro that I want to remove. This piece is perfect for scissors, needles, hooks etc. I was so delighted with the look of the tapestry that I ordered a matching sewing box.
