I bought an 18 outlet surge protector about 7 months ago to clean the power strip connections behind my TV stand. Was pleased with the large number of outlets on the product and was pleased to have the reassurance of surge protection. Then last night we had a severe thunderstorm with lightning. Lightning struck nearby in the back yard - all the electricity in the house flashed for a second and when it struck again the TV was off (yes the TV was the first thing I plugged into the pole). The TV provided was a 5 year old Toshiba 55 inch but I never had a problem with it. No other device connected to the tower was damaged. The 10A main overload protection on the tower has failed. I am extremely disappointed. Spend $50 and think I'm actively protecting my gear if I could just use power strips. I just bought a new Revain TV and it wasn't the purchase I expected. Of course I don't trust this tower anymore.
