Review on Readytosky® S500 Quadcopter Frame: Extreme Performance FPV Drone Kit with Carbon Fiber Landing Gear by Keyone Brownlee

Glad it held up.

***Update***5-1-21 So after a few days of flying with normal landing, my legs broke again. The tee connecting the lower horizontal bar to the thicker vertical bar broke off. In the end, both sides did. I used some zip ties to hold it all together for a few more flights, but then I slammed it three or four feet in the air. It was a coasting crash - not too fast at all. And then the bottom board broke. After that, it was almost impossible to fly due to all the vibrations going to the air traffic controller's gyroscope. The arms are still in pretty good shape, although they flex a bit when the throttle is pressed and the propellers start to lift the quad. I used 4S with 6000mah battery. Quite heavy, but flew pretty stable when built. At least until it started breaking. The circuit board definitely needs to be a lot thicker since that's where most of the stress is. The legs need to be redesigned and all the parts holding them together need to be stronger as well. It's good design and all, but it's very flimsy when it comes to hard landing or attempting FPV. The camera also shakes a lot, even if nothing is broken. I think I'll upgrade to the iFlight XL10 which is pretty much all in one carbon fiber. The idea of this frame is good but if you don't have a 3D printer. it's not worth doing your own feet. The arms are pretty strong, but a small swipe is only a few feet in the air and they're gone. Of course it's pretty cheap for all there is, you could think something with a little more carbon fibre.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Upgradable
