Let me start off short and sweet. If you're a Lightroom user, you'll love Loupedeck+. I've been using it for 2 days now and it's very intuitive in Lightroom. Knobs for all basic adjustments like exposure and saturation have this speed-based adjustment protocol. This means that a fast or aggressive knowledge rotation will result in big changes, while a slow rotation is for fine-tuning. In addition, the setting is reset to zero when the button is pressed down with a characteristic click. Incredibly intuitive, I liked it straight away. I have very large hands and I like the layout and size of the controls. Obviously, a lot of emphasis was placed on ergonomics here. The feel of the whole product is of high quality. I found that the controls quickly became intuitive and there are many controls here. The Fn key acts as a modifier, doubling the functionality of all controls. I selected the 3000 exposure shot and edited it, and when I was done I felt like I had the features. I can say 2 things, firstly I have found that I set up more than just the software myself because it is so accessible everything is laid out for you. I also found that I didn't have to turn to an external editor for the final image editing much faster and with more joy than with the software itself. Personally, I don't want to be without it now. This is clearly the right tool for the job. This is very similar to why you buy a top-notch professional camera, all controls are physical and accessible, there's no menu navigation to get what you want. This is a 5 star product for Lightroom. Unfortunately I don't use Lightroom, I use Capture One and at least for now there is a problem. The C1 implementation is in beta and lacks many of the slick features of the LR version. Having tried this in Lightroom, I'm dying for this tool to work with it. Currently in C1, Loupedeck interacts by emulating a keyboard, meaning turning a knob creates keystrokes in the system. It has no knob reset function, and since turning the knob produces what the system perceives as a series of keystrokes, it takes multiple keystrokes to undo the action to actually undo the knob rotation. Clumsy and inelegant. Loupedeck installs the Capture One Keyboard shortcut file for the interface. The problem is that several C1 users including myself bought Phase One's Capture One kit which included the Logic Keyboard for the C1. This keyboard requires its own key combination to function. So at the moment Loupedeck doesn't work with Phase One keyboards and vice versa. Capture One now has internal support for Tangent Wave controllers and this is enabled by a checkbox in the C1 settings. The TangentWave panels are great, but they cost nearly $4,000 for the entire setup, which is way more than a photographer needs. They also support push-to-reset handles. Tangent also makes a VS version with the iPad for the panel, but when I drag my finger across the glass, it doesn't give the user-friendly interface that a physical stylus has. seamlessly on C1 like Loupedeck on LR. I intend to continue hearing from both companies. Love LoupeDeck+, just need to see it fully functional on Capture One.
