Review on 💾 ORICO 3.5inch External Hard Drive Enclosure SATA III Transparent Storage Case - Tool Free, 16TB, Compatible with WD, PS4, Xbox by Justin Santiago

I used this case for a 4TB 7200RPM SATA III drive. The controller is very fast. I've tried this on both a Macbook Pro Retina with USB 3.0 (using the cable that came with it) and a Macbook Pro Touchbar with Thunderbolt 3 (using my own cable). The transmission speed was excellent. The soft-touch power button is also a nice feature, allowing you to easily turn off the drive when you don't need to access the backup storage. The only problem I have is that there is no airflow at all. The material from which it is made is thermally insulating. It feels like a very durable plastic. There are no vents anywhere, which I didn't notice in the photos in the listing. I will most likely keep the case but will modify the case with my Dremel to allow passive airflow around the disc. I will probably remove 40%-60% of the body material, especially the top. I will also add smaller vents on the bottom to protect the exposed drive controller board. Finally, the case must be held above the surface to allow cold air to flow in from below. Do not buy this case again. The modifications I'm making shouldn't be necessary to cool the drive in the outer case. I wouldn't buy this case if I expect you can modify it just for cooling. Just buy a better case.
