I bought the X857 because I thought I could build a small computer with a Pi and have more/faster memory. I was wrong. Mechanically it connects fine to the Raspberry Pi, but the Pi never sees the connected mSATA drive. The X857 powered on, the 3.3V red LED came on, then the blue SSD LED came on. Then the SSD light started blinking and went off after a few seconds. Either GeekWorm's tests are bad or the quality control is poor as I received a faulty device. I tested my mSATA drive and it works without any issues. I've also checked my Raspberry Pi and have no problem booting from an external 2.5" SSD connected via a simple USB 3 to SATA adapter. It doesn't even need a better power source than what I have with my Raspberry Pi. So I know that the GeekWorm X857 mSATA to USB adapter board is not working. I just wanted something more compact than a drive case and a long cable that lays next to the Pi. Being able to place it under the Pi with a small connector was attractive - IF IT WORKS! DO NOT BUY GEEKWORM PRODUCTS as they have development and quality control issues. Don't waste money and time. DO NOT BUY!
