Review on 🔦 Catalina Lighting 20231 000 Integrated Disinfection System by Darryl Pendall

I've had terrible trouble keeping my renovated tiled shower clean even though it was properly sealed. I've tried mops and shower products and also wiped them down with a towel after use and still ended up with a moldy solution. I installed this light 2 weeks ago and still no more mold. I am impressed! The downside is the connection point for the wire hangers which were meant to fit the existing glass but as noted by other reviewers were too large to fit the existing shower light glass. I had to take out the old can completely and cut the drywall in the ceiling to make the light fixture fit. As a result, I had to connect the old cable directly to the new light and was unable to use the good connection adapter that came with it. Then since there was no glass there was nothing to keep the light on the ceiling! I smeared silicon sealant on the inside rim of the bracket and put a clamp in place to hold it in place until the sealant dries. The next day I covered the outside edge of the hood with lots of silicone caulk and let it dry. Luckily, the fixture is lightweight and as long as the silicone sealant keeps it on the ceiling. I'll set up a smart switch to see if I can use the app to turn off disinfection mode at a specific time. I'm a 70 year old girl with some basic housekeeping skills but I think for some DIYers this would be impossible. For me, however, the additional time investment pays off in less cleaning work in the shower. The original lamp probably dates from the 1970s. I don't know if this is a factor, but if the wire clip connectors didn't protrude so far the installation would have taken a lot less time and effort.
