Excellent steering wheel QUIET. I ordered a 9 inch wheel and they sent me a 7.5 inch wheel but I ended up using it on my hamster robot. I really hope they put their big wheels up for sale again. The wheel itself consists of a mixture of wood and plastic. It's easy to clean, unless your hamster rides it to the bathroom all the time, in which case it's pretty easy to clean and it's a good idea to have a toothpick handy to remove dirt from the crevices. I have two hamsters that use this exercise wheel. Roborovsky and Syrian. The gnome gets his wheel very dirty, but my Syrian keeps his wheel clean, so it's up to the hamster. It's easy to wipe the wheel with water to remove dirt. He claims the bike is dirt resistant and so far it is. The only downside to this wheel is that the metal base that holds it can bend and throw the wheel off balance. My 7.5 inch wheel has this problem and I'm trying to fix the flex. Otherwise I had no problems with this bike and I can sleep well at night. My hamsters don't chew on it either which is a plus and the wheel can be converted into a wire cage. I use tank/bin cages and they work well with the base in a variety of bedding types. I also wish there were more than 4 colors but for what we got it's a good color choice.
