Review on Alpine SPR 10TW 1 Inch Component Tweeters by Joshua Castillo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good quality, easy to assemble, complement the interior of the car and make an impact. Highly recommended!

They were included in a setup consisting of a JVC KW AVX-640 head unit, a Power Acoustik GT5-2500 5-channel amplifier, a Pioneer TS-SW2501S4 10" Shallow S4 subwoofer in an MDF box on the back of the rear seat, 4 Pioneer TS-A1685R 6-1/2" 4-way speakers (1 in each door) and a pair of Toyota OEM tweeters in each front door. They were installed in the rear doors just in front of the power windows. The idea was to balance the effect of the powerful subwoofer in the back seat and the effect of the tweeters in the front doors. The Alpine tweeter materials appeared to be of good quality and the 'bolt ring' mechanism for attachment to the panel was simple, solid and firm and didn't feel like it would easily come loose with vibration. , as they are mounted in the doors and are meant to face up towards the ears of the backseat listeners. The finish was great and looked like the original hardware in the door. I'm a bit concerned about the integrity of the Alpine logo appliqué, which adds a lot to the aesthetic but is attached to the mesh with double-sided tape. I hope that the application will be kept up to date. Most importantly, the Alpine tweeters make their presence felt and are a very prominent feature in the mix without being overwhelming. They sound very clear, complementing the subwoofer's tight, heavy, muffled bass and complimenting the 6.5" Pioneers speakers in the doors, which are themselves 4-way speakers with bass, voice, tweeter and super tweeter. It was an excellent choice. Tweeters and if/when I find a way to mount them behind the stock front door tweeter grilles I will be ordering another pair immediately to replace the stock front tweeters.
