This set of brake pads is definitely a good choice. My bike's brakes squeaked and had poor stopping distance (they were at least a few years old). I live at the top of a steep hill so it is very important to me that my brakes will hold me and my bike when going downhill and approaching a stop sign or traffic light. It's also nice if they don't squeak annoyingly. I have Shimano cantilever brakes and the non-threaded stanchions worked great. The posts are quite long so they were easy to adjust. My only complaint is that I had to sand the blocks quite a bit before installing them as the surface wasn't completely flat. However, I expected this. Just make sure you sand the blocks before installing. After about a month of use they started to squeak a bit - I think I'll have to adjust them again as they've worn down a bit with use. I recommend!
