Review on πŸ’ͺ Enhanced Performance with Intel NUC 10 Performance Kit - Intel Core i7 Processor (Tall Chassis) by Andrew Agarwal

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great little mini PC

This NUC is about a side upgrade of an AMD FX-8370 based system in terms of CPU, but uses a fraction of the power. It's much quieter than a multi-fan mid-tower case and uses only 1.4% of the volume (compared to my old case) of the mid-tower case I had. It's small enough to mount on my monitor base for easy I/O access. If I didn't have to, I would use a VESA mount instead. I loaded it with 64GB of RAM, an M.2 drive, and a large SSD, eliminating the need to constantly use the external drive bay. USB connection and adding noise. It's audible, but barely, with little use or inactivity. Sometimes, for example when compiling and building packages, the fan assembly switches to a much higher speed mode while working. I value need-based cooling design. There is nothing surprising about this small block. It handles everything well (some tasks scream, others lag), and in a month of operation, it's never had any dropouts, freezes, or spontaneous reboots. Some of these are OS related, of course, and since I'm using Arch (Manjaro) this would be pretty rare, essentially non-existent. If you plan to install a Linux-based system, you need to access the BIOS security settings and disable Secure Boot. Installs from a bootable flash drive. I don't run games on it, but the video up to 4k goes smoothly and without breaks. I read that they make great media servers and based on my experience I think this would be the one. At the moment I have nothing to complain about and I often look at this tiny thing with grateful surprise, how small, quiet, portable, but functional at the same time. it does it by packing all the processing power and storage I had in a noisy Β£30 mid-tower into something the size of a . three pieces of bread. If there are any disadvantages to this system, most likely they lie in the fact that it cannot be modernized. The CPU is soldered (both pros and cons), and the fan assembly is most likely custom-designed for the CPU. I really can't think of any other disadvantages. Every time I turn it on, I'm amazed at how much I'm getting from such a small computer.
