This device effectively extracts the video signal from the HDMI input and outputs a strong VGA signal. However, the audio extraction from the HDMI channel is very, very weak and almost useless. Therefore, you must be in a very quiet place to hear the sound. Obviously the device needs a small built-in audio amplifier. We solved this problem by using a small standalone amplifier between this converter and the audio input to the VGA video projector and then directly to the speakers for better sound. Without a built-in amplifier, the sound quality was unacceptable.
