I bought this to use with the MXL 990 condenser microphone mentioned above. It's a big and heavy microphone. I bought it complete with a shock absorber which was junk. It couldn't support the weight of the mic without slipping, and the threads snapped when tightened. This shock absorber is better in every way. He doesn't slip. It attaches to the base of the microphone and includes the correct mount. I had to constantly play with the original shock absorber to fix the scope. I've never had to deal with that. I have a built in switch that allows me to turn off the microphone. The mount does a pretty good job of suppressing noise during use, which is exactly what I wanted it for. There are definitely better shock absorbers out there. It was an inexpensive mount that did everything I wanted it to do.
