Review on Kohler K 6655 1U FE Undercounter One Hole Drilling by Robin Naber

Well made general purpose sink but expensive

This cast iron Kohler general purpose sink appears to be well made. The white enamel finish is visually smooth and pristine, and the sink is quite massive, weighing over 80 pounds. Under-counter mounts can offer a cleaner look and more countertop surface area than self-tapping mounts. On the earlier (non-Kohler) self-rimmed cast iron sink, over time the enamel would cover the chips on the edges of the rim, eventually leading to some rusting of the iron. (This may be due to poor workmanship, not the type of sink.) Also, water will inevitably pool around the rim, creating maintenance issues. Therefore, whenever possible, I recommend under-table installation, which requires a costly rip-off and a new frame when converting. One of my complaints is the cost of this relatively small sink (21 x 22 x 13.6 inches), which tops out at $400. Another complaint is that this heavy sink has minimal protection from the manufacturer, especially around the corners. The sink was damaged upon delivery, the enamel surface was cracked at the corners; I refused to accept the package from the carrier. It took another week to replace the sink. Attention: Check the sink before accepting the delivery.
