I have brown hair and after a period of highlighting and low light I noticed my hair was getting copper, orange/copper undertones. I was so unhappy with the color that after speaking to my hairstylist, she recommended I try the purple shampoo. I use Redken Purple Shampoo (and it works great!) but it's also quite expensive. I recently switched to L'Oreal Purple Shampoo because it's so much cheaper and wow! It's almost the same! I am so happy with it and am now saving money with this cheaper option.
