Cree does not recommend their use in fully enclosed fixtures and considers these bulbs to be moisture resistant, NOT waterproof. If the top and sides are waterproof then the A21 should work, although other considerations like spraying water from hoses might be fine. The base E-26 size is the same, but the bulbs are larger and can pose a problem when replacing smaller older filament types. With some effort I recently squeezed 3 A2 bulbs into an older light fixture and then repeated this in another room. I installed a total of 6 bulbs. The extra light made a huge difference in both rooms. TEMPERATURE β Cree recommends a temperature range of minus 13 to plus 113 degrees Fahrenheit. Very unscientific, I used a meat thermometer to measure 100 degrees in the store's three-sided downward lighting. The bulb was warm but the base was hot to the touch. No wonder I turn off all lights exposed to the sun during the day. I'm certainly not an expert on this - I just like the very bright energy saving LEDs and especially the Cree bulbs that can be found all over the house. Particularly colourfast 5000K with a very high CRI index of 90+ - good luck with the re-lighting. I think the result will surprise you.
