However, when I was looking to replace this cover with an alternative, I found a "remote" type volume control that which is on the outside of the "lip" surrounding the screen. When I tested these remote control buttons, they worked great and I was able to take screenshots and turn off the device without any problems. So - BIG change in my rating (from 2 to 4) because I really like the colour, the outer paper pocket and the padding, this will sure help protect the iPad. snaps into a "lip" that holds it securely and allows the pen to be stowed in a charging position. Sponge surrounds the entire screen. I have cutouts for charging etc. That's right, the power button is recessed and a little tricky (but not impossible) to turn on and off - you just have to approach it at the right angle. And now I notice that the volume controls on the side of the iPad above the pen holder are accessible from the outside of the screen bezel. (That means you don't have to lift the corner of the iPad out from under the lid to get to the volume up button.) Now that I've figured out how to access the volume buttons, I'm happy with this purchase and think that it will be exactly what I need.
