The locking mechanism works well and I like the small form factor to pack away.
I was looking for a well-made and reliable recording system for my DSLR. I've used very cheap and very expensive pens and wanted something in between. These match this account. They feel solid, the locking mechanism works well, and I like the small form factor for packing in a backpack. I have also had good experiences with CAMVATE products in the past. I had to tighten some of the hex screws holding the panels out of the box but I find this to be an acceptable compromise for the price. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to manage their budget effectively.
