We purchased this item for a 2 seater daybed with central storage and cup holders. Cup holders do not hold hot beverages in a mug with a handle. so it's perfect. it sits on the middle storage compartment and "adapts" to the external dimensions of the compartment. it moves or doesn't move. The center has a non-slip coating to keep your mug from moving when you stand up or sit in your chair/lounger. It's well made and nice to look at if I don't remove it right away. it also folds up fairly tightly for storage. My storage compartment isn't long enough to fit it in, but I keep it handy.
