Review on Gingher Silver Knife Edge Sewing 🪡 Scissors: Precision Craftsmanship for Seamlessly Accurate Cuts by Doris Tran

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Has the price gone up 50% in just one week today? No quality for the same style, no German production. Italy fails.

Italian standards must be extremely low compared to German original goods. All right, I don't recommend these gingher scissors. But check out the 5-inch Craft Gingher Scissors instead. They're still decently produced for some reason, but don't know what's up with these kinds of little sewing scissors. I bought upgrades from both at the same time. And they were sent at different times. and later also arrived on different days. Meanwhile, so pleased with the craft scissors, I ordered a pair of 7 inch sewing scissors, because for some reason many sewing scissors from our collection of expensive brands do not cut very well. I mean my suspects who love to reach for sharpeners these days and have actually fixed damaged scissors over the years but even if I catch the criminals in the act they will insist they get it right and that was me. I know that life is a compromise, like all relationships, so I buy or treat myself to new scissors that haven't been seen on a sharpener rather than break them. LAUGH OUT LOUD. Yes, I intend to tuck them out of sight, so to speak, and as always, keep the originals in the sewing box so I always have a pair to go and use. THOSE scissors won't cut it though. It is smaller than the original lighter and stiffer. Stiffness can improve over time but is just uncomfortable. I pulled out an old pair for comparison and as another reviewer was showing their original German made pair and they are clearly genuine leather blade guards the same size as the so called Italian pair they are not from the same period . I can take the originals to a professional scissor shop for repairs or proper sharpening as they really aren't that bad, other than not being able to handle basic cotton percale and light knits for mask making lately. They seem fine right out of the box as long as there is no rust. But I say this far because of all the complaints about these grates. NOW another update. I bought them a week ago. I mean I just ordered here from Revain last week and today as I am writing a review price increase from 24 to over 37 per pair? In fact, it seems very strange. BTW when I decided to buy a pair of 7 inch sewing scissors they were $49 here at Revain so I googled and found them for less than half the price and of course I ordered from this seller. Which had a 100% satisfaction rating and is in only one condition so less chance of the weather delivery issues I've experienced many times this year. Or even covid. But just to say that with the huge price spike here it might be good for your wallet, Run your fingers through a Google search engine or something like that. It's sad that the quality of the ginger has dropped so drastically, but Friscars bought it up I think. While I have a lot of great Friskars products, they mostly make a lot of high quality and shoddy stuff. So life is a compromise, not just in relationships but in general. I'll coat the scissors with some machine oil and maybe take them out of the sheath so they don't rust so quickly. We live in a fairly dry climate but many years ago I learned to put some dry silicon spray on sand filled needle/pen pads to prevent rust on the needles and it worked great and I always sand all of them now pin pads when i make it, usually with high quality, clean sand to keep them from rusting. Give it too, by applying a dry silicone spray and leaving it on an absorbent paper towel for a few weeks before gifting. I have never had drawer stains and have 3 pillows that I treated like this a few years ago when they were brand new. That's why I also use magnetic grips for most of my everyday needles. This kept all the needles and pins from rusting and we lived in IA for a time where the humidity was higher than MT and I suspect this was a real problem. But to be on the safe side with all the scissor rust reviews, I don't want to risk it. Oh there is no sign of rust on the ones I received to be honest. However, due to the drop in quality and size of the same item as a whole, I simply cannot recommend it. I recommend and believe that when comparing this and the same 5 inch craft scissors I recommend the larger ones for sewing purposes, they will work well in most cases. Yes, from time to time we need a very sharp end, but in general they will work fine in most cases. Sometimes my choice will be a slightly shorter style for me. I kick myself in the butt for not reading the negative reviews before ordering because I usually do. But I ordered both scissors at the same time and thinking of my previous experience with the brand I updated if not updated, and did not worry about the error in quality control and no longer belonged to the German, which, by the way, also often suffered. in today's world less quality and cheaper production for more monetary value of doing business. This is the corporate world of SOEs, where stock returns lower quality and raise prices. Until one day a bag of chocolate chips contains a $7 chip. Oh god I have to stop this. You'll never guess how such silly sayings have become a reality over the years. So that, of course, that's one of the silliest, but oh yeah. I have a ridiculous capacity for insanity, which sometimes turns out to be true. HOORAY. In the meantime I also have "LIVINGO 6' for the daily paper production You'll get a lot of practical and less practical gifts, but I bet it's rare that someone gives scissors as gifts. Of course, I always add gifts from their list and what they really want. But enjoy adding some things they didn't know how much it can make their life easier, even if it's just a small thing or two. Everyone stay healthy. We can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. Also, spring is trying to get a glimpse of the cold here at Northwest MT. A bit of an immature thought as it's not even mid-March yet and March in MT is sometimes a nasty winter month. Buying camping gear today is always feverish even at this time of the year. Also, prices nearing their peak early in the season can be a good time to check. So spend the stimulus money, but wisely! Make the most of every dollar and save for the best things to invest in so it lasts. (I mentioned that our shears are in their 60s and at least two pairs are in their 70s. My husband is in his 80s now and yes, he sews too.)
