Keep Your Phone Handy

If you (or the person you're giving it to) like solving puzzles and have patience, Katamino will of course keep you busy for a long time. The progressive concept works well - I got through the first few tasks fairly easily, and then when I got to the six piece puzzle it became a good puzzle. It is also nice that this game can be played alone or in a team. For the money, the wooden version of this game is decent, but there's nothing special about it. If you just want the game and don't care about board size/material, note that there is a "street" version of this game that costs about $15 less at the time of this review. Although they got a little stingy, this is a guide. , IMHO. When this game first came out, the manual was spiral bound and appeared to have multiple pages. The current accompanying manual is printed on heavy-duty paper, but the "Settings" images become smaller and smaller as the task progresses. What's even more frustrating is that while there is more than one solution to each challenge, NO solutions are provided (except for a card to return all the pieces to the discard board). When you come across a puzzle that you just can't solve, it can be very frustrating not having a solution to refer to. It might be a good idea to take photos of your choices as you progress in this game. :)
