Review on SPEEDLINK TORID Gamepad Wireless for PC/PS3, black by Adam Wawrzyski ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A great option for this money, one of the best offers.

I will share my impressions of this gamepad. The gamepad is just great. In games, he showed himself very well, comfortable, sensitive, in general, everything is fine. Regarding the large stroke of triggers and dead zones, I would like to say the following. At first, it also seemed to me that the trigger stroke was too big, but as soon as I took the gamepad a little differently, putting my middle fingers on the triggers, it immediately became more convenient. Conclusion: near triggers - for the index fingers, far - for the middle ones. About dead zones. As you know, gamepads work using two different APIs - DirectInput (outdated) and XInput (newer). DirectInput implies analog stick movement, therefore, almost all games that support DicrectInput manage to use the sticks "to the full" in all directions (in the range from -127 to 127). The XInput API is a purely digital option, however, it also has 2 options for working. In the first case, the sticks begin to react only in positions close to the extreme ones (from -1 to 1 with rounding up to 1 decimal place, in fact - with rounding up to an integer value), in the second case, they allow transferring values rounded up to 2 decimal places. Considering that the vast majority of games are written using engines from Epic Games, I decided to check this option. I wrote a simple application that read the position of the sticks in both versions, the result is that there are no dead zones on the gamepad, software "dead zones" are on the conscience of computer game developers, and also depend on the features of a particular game engine.
